Course Aims

The aim of this course is to give students the skills and knowledge they need in order to become effective independent readers. The course covers key concepts in vocabulary building, and students will learn a range of methods for deducing meaning from linguistic and contextual clues. There will also be a focus on strategies for reading different genres and maximising comprehension of higher-level texts.

Course Objectives

Students who successfully complete the course will have the knowledge and skills required to engage with and understand university-level English texts. They will also have the tools they need to become effective independent learners.
